2011 Pacer Qld Sprints 16th October 2011 |
RQYS continue to hold outstanding regattas for the QLD pacer fleet with the recent
Pacer QLD Sprint Championship .
Twenty-six Pacers faced the start in this seven race sprint series in challengingly light and then
moderate winds.

RQYS continue to hold outstanding regattas for the QLD pacer fleet with both School Fleet and Team regattas.
Thank you RQYS for your continued support of the Pacer fleet.
School Fleet racing in 2011 saw 69 crews from 10 schools competing, with a crew from Brisbane Grammar School
leading home the fleet from two Iona College crews!

Brisbane Boys College took out Group A of the Term 1 schools team racing from Moreton Bay College and Anglican Church Grammar School.

Iona Colege showed their resurgence in teams racing in winning both Junior and Senior State Teams titles.
The Iona Junior team led home Brisbane Boys College and Moreton Bay College, whilst the senior squad was followed
by Moreton Bay College and Brisbane Grammar School.

54 entries - a record, 52 Pacers on the water - a record and with smiles
all round the 2010 QLD Pacer Titles were sailed at RQYS in challenging
conditions on Waterloo Bay. Photos in the gallery.

Kids having more fun 20 Nov 2010 |
A change of format (from Teams to Fleet racing) has given the Pacer profile in Queensland
a huge boost in 2010.
For four consecutive Sundays from 24th October to 14th November, over 152 competitors each
week invaded RQYS, Manly for Fleet racing in Pacers. The competitors were drawn from 10
schools, with the largest contingents from Brisbane Grammar School and Brisbane Boys College.
Pacers were drawn from the school and RQYS fleet.
A total of sixteen races were held across the 4 weekends with the eventual winner from Morton
Bay College, with second place from Iona College with third place filled by Brisbane Boys College.
Morton Bay College finished with 4 crews in the Top 10.

Pacer Queensland is pleased to announce the appointment of our new President, Cheryl Hutchins.
Cheryl brings a solid sailing background, organisational acumen and enthusiasm to this most important position.
Cheryl leads the new team of Tony Rigby as Treasurer and Noel Shannon as Secretary.
The new committee wishes to extend it's thanks to Nanda (retiring President) , Cath Gulhane and Ken Grantham (retiring treasurer)
for their continued support of Pacer Qld.

The 2010 Pacer QLD Inc AGM was held on the 21st August 2010 at RQYS.
Two new office bearers were elected, Tony Rigby as Treasurer and Noel Shannon as Secretary.
The new committee wishes to extend it's thanks to Ken Grantham and Janet Fullelove for their efforts as previous committee members.

The National Championships for 2010-11 will be held at Robe Yacht Club, South Australia from 27 December 2010 until 3 January 2011.
27 December 2009 will be a "travel/accommodation afternoon check in" day with no scheduled activities until the following day.
Allow for a morning check out from your accommodation on Monday 03 January 2010.
There are three Caravan Parks in Robe all offering a range of powered sites and holiday cabins.

Twelve school teams competed in the 2009 Queensland School Team Sailing Championships at RQYS held from 13th to 17th April.
Open Champions are Brisbane Grammar School, followed by Moreton Bay College and Anglican Chruch Grammar School.
Girls championship was won by Moreton Bay College.
Junior champions are : Brisbane Boys College

RQYS SAILING SCHOOL is starting a new Pacer Fleet Racing program every Saturday afternoon called Pacer Racer. This program will include coached fleet racing around short courses and is ideal off season training for Team Sailors, a great stepping stone to fleet racing in other classes and all round good fun on the water. It uses the Sailing School Pacer Fleet, meaning it's easy and affordable to go out racing every week! Runs for four (4) weeks.

I have been asked about this a couple of times. Hopefully this diagram may clear things up.
NB. This is the standard method for a Masrm boat. There are ways to improve this system, I may add these later. Also your boat may be a mirror image of the diagram, and some parts like the kite sheets may be different, so keep that in mind.

Racing Sail cloth now comes in 'Pacer' Blue!
Contender Polykote 3.8oz cloth stretches less than our current blue cloths. That means that the sail holds its shape better over a wider wind range, and over a longer period of time, thus increasing your boat speed.
Contender Sailcloth has released this fabric, commonly used in 420 and 470 sails, in dark blue. See your sail maker to get a set of racing sails, or add it as an optional extra on your new boat from Masrm Yachts.

At last the growing Queensland Pacer fleet has an organising body! This will mean an inaugural Fleet Racing State Title for Pacers, with or without spinnakers, privately owned or on loan from your school or yacht club. There is also the provision for further events in the future, as the class continues to expand.
