A spirited and at times boisterous AGM was held at RQYS on the 16th August. The committee was returned unopposed and have identified several areas of focus for the coming year. Don't be surprised if you get a call from one of the committee to see what you are up to and how Pacer QLD can help.

Tasmanian, Western Australian, South Australian and Queensland school teams filled the top four spots at the 2009 Australian School Teams Championship raced at Manly. Fifteen teams competed in Pacers, with three schools are flying the flag for Queensland.

The Championship ran from the 10th July to the 14th July.

Twenty-two (22) crews competed in the 2009 Pacer State Championships at RQYS over the Anzac day weekend.

Crews enjoyed robust competition with good sailing conditions.

Twelve school teams competed in the 2009 Queensland School Team Sailing Championships at RQYS held from 13th to 17th April.

Open Champions are Brisbane Grammar School, followed by Moreton Bay College and Anglican Chruch Grammar School.

Girls championship was won by Moreton Bay College.

Junior champions are : Brisbane Boys College

RQYS SAILING SCHOOL is starting a new Pacer Fleet Racing program every Saturday afternoon called Pacer Racer. This program will include coached fleet racing around short courses and is ideal off season training for Team Sailors, a great stepping stone to fleet racing in other classes and all round good fun on the water. It uses the Sailing School Pacer Fleet, meaning it's easy and affordable to go out racing every week! Runs for four (4) weeks.

Cost: $20pp/week (Non-members) $15pp/week (RQYS Members).

Where: RQYS Sailing School, with racing to be conducted just outside Manly Harbour.

I have been asked about this a couple of times. Hopefully this diagram may clear things up.

NB. This is the standard method for a Masrm boat. There are ways to improve this system, I may add these later. Also your boat may be a mirror image of the diagram, and some parts like the kite sheets may be different, so keep that in mind.

At last the growing Queensland Pacer fleet has an organising body! This will mean an inaugural Fleet Racing State Title for Pacers, with or without spinnakers, privately owned or on loan from your school or yacht club. There is also the provision for further events in the future, as the class continues to expand.
